[Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, September 1, 2023] – MacLean Australia is thrilled to be unveiling its latest battery electric mining vehicle at the Asia-Pacific International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX), taking place at the Sydney Showgrounds from September 5th though the 7th.  The MacLean booth on the exhibition floor (N121) will feature the company’s battery electric mining vehicle (BEV) specifically designed for Australian mines’ infrastructure servicing needs – the ML5 BEV Multi-Lift.

“We started off this Australian conference year by showcasing our battery electric SS5 shotcrete sprayer at UGOPS in Brisbane and that unit is now being trialed by Barminco at Sunrise Dam,” notes Jari Tuorila, VP of Australasia for MacLean. “AIMEX will help build our BEV momentum in Australia with the showcasing of the ML5 BEV Multi-Lift that we really see a filling a safety and productivity need for underground mines here. The two-operator machine has a two-person cab and an agile slew boom, along with full CAN-Bus controls, also in the basket for safe and precise operation.”

“This is an exciting time for fleet electrification in Australia with multiple companies actively evaluating their immediate options and our message to industry colleagues is simple – we have a diesel-free production support fleet solution for you, right now, ready to perform,” remarks Patrick Marshall, MacLean’s VP of Technology, based in Brisbane. “With the arrival of this ML5 BEV Multi-Lift in Australia, two other  MacLean EV Series secondary breaking units (a BH3 BEV and an RB3 BEV) arriving soon and, a MacLean EV Series explosives charging unit (an MC5 BEV) set to arrive early in the new year, , we remain fully committed to more broadly introducing MacLean fleet electrification to the Australian industry in the months to come,” says Peter Black, Technical Sales Manager, who will be attending AIMEX with MacLean Elevated Work Platforms Product Manager Bryson Lehman and will be available to answer to further enquiries at the MacLean stand on the exhibition floor.

Launched in 2016, the MacLean Fleet Electrification program has to date shipped over 50 MacLean diesel-free units to three continents, with a quarter million operating hours logged and more than 20 MacLean mining vehicle models battery electrified.

The newest addition to the MacLean utility vehicle (UTV) product line complements the company’s Elevated Work Platform product suite – the SL2 and SL3 Scissor Lifts, and the LR3 Boom Lift for high reach and heavy load mine services applications.  With the ML5, MacLean is now able to offer a range of mine services installation and repair solutions, depending on mines’ haulage ramp and drift sizes, the size and weight of the infrastructure being installed or repaired, and the working height.

2023 is a milestone year for MacLean as it marks the company’s 50th year of operations.  It also represents a landmark year for MacLean Australia with a growing fleet of MacLean EV Series units in-country and out for customer trials. MacLean Australia has had a full-service sales, parts, and technical support branch in Perth for over a decade and, in 2021, the company opened a second service and support branch in Orange, New South Wales, to support a growing fleet of electrified, automated, and digitalized MacLean mining vehicles in the eastern region of the country.
