Collingwood, Ontario [April 8, 2019] – MacLean Engineering is celebrating the recent completion of a 15,000 square foot (1,400 square metre) expansion of its Owen Sound, Ontario manufacturing facility.
The expansion doubles assembly capacity from five assembly bays to ten, with two ten-ton cranes. A separate storage building for parts and an external loading ramp for rig deliveries is also part of the plan. The project was initiated in the last quarter of 2018 and completed in the first quarter of 2019, utilizing local trades wherever possible.
Currently, 140 staff are employed at MacLean’s Owen Sound plant. The expansion will eventually add an additional workforce of 50 to 60 people, including welders, machinists, electricians, mechanics and administrative functions.
“We expect to double our production,” says Bob Wraight, Vice President of Operations for MacLean Engineering. “The City of Owen Sound has worked with us to get all the approvals done promptly and have been very cooperative in assisting with the success of this project – we really appreciate their support.”
