MacLean continues technology development investment with hiring of Patrick Marshall

Collingwood, ON, October 30, 2018 – MacLean Engineering’s push to develop and integrate leading edge automation and digitalization technologies across its fleet of mobile mining equipment is bolstered by the hiring of Patrick Marshall, who serves in the role of Director of Mining Technology. Marshall is based out of MacLean’s head office and main manufacturing facility in Collingwood.

Patrick joins MacLean from a corporate innovation position with one of the world’s largest mining companies, as manager of automation and electrification initiatives.  He was responsible for implementing digital transformation projects, installing autonomous mobile equipment and the integration of mine-wide wireless communications at one of this company’s underground gold mining operations.

With a mechanical engineering degree from Australia, fleet management experience with an Australian contractor, and both frontline technology application as well as corporate innovation team experience, Marshall brings to MacLean a breadth of mining industry insight that will help propel MacLean’s technology development efforts.

“The combination of Patrick coming on board and our recent acquisition of an underground test facility in Sudbury creates a powerful platform for our in-house technology development” says MacLean President, Kevin MacLean.  “We now have a test bed of our own where we can work in partnership with customers to better understand their needs and develop solutions that improve safety and productivity, while driving down operating costs.  This outcome demands new ways of thinking and new ways of doing, and that is what Patrick will help us deliver with his frontline innovation experience.”
