POSITION TITLE: Quality Systems Coordinator
LOCATION: Collingwood, Ontario
SHIFTS: Day Shift (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

About the Position: The Quality Inspection Coordinator role is to verify that product and component quality meets the Company’s, Customer’s and other regulatory specifications with a focus on identifying and evaluating product quality through monitoring, measuring and identifying to increase productivity and reduce defects as well as mentoring co-workers with a goal for continuously improving the quality of MacLean products. This position requires the following proficiencies:
- Be responsible to perform random Quality inspections, train and mentor others.
- Inspect components that are in process or completed in Manufacturing including but not limited to; Saw/Burn/Bend, Weld, Machine Shop, Blast/Paint, Assembly or any other sources, as assigned daily by the Supervisor.
- Perform gap analysis of our inspection processes and their controls.
- Understand and interpret welding requirements and specifications from blueprints and drawings.
- Inspect welds through visual inspection and use of designated measuring tools.
- Ensure weld inspection documents are completed, including signed and highlighted drawings and the application of appropriate tags are applied.
- Identify where NDE requirements are needed and ensure the NDE inspector is completing the inspection and that they are coordinating repairs on non-conforming components.
- Ensure material traceability through heat number track is being followed and applied on burnt and welded parts for certified weldments. CSA or ROPS/FOPS components.
- Check for and monitor serial number applications on required components for traceability.
- Random checks on welding equipment to ensure WPS parameters are within tolerance, and weld consumables are properly stored.
- Identify and report manufacturing defects to the Lead Hand or Supervisor.
- Monitor, verify and record that necessary weld repairs have been completed.
- Identify and communicate errors on fabrication drawings to the department Supervisor or MPE.
- Assist MPE department with providing details or Root Cause analysis of non-conformances.
- Assist in identifying areas of Improvement in manufacturability – including weldment fitting steps, weld joint design and component fixturing to improve fabrication quality and efficiency.
- Monitor in process inspection of blast and painted components to ensure blast profile and paint DFT checks are being completed by operators.
- Perform routine checks of blasted and painted parts for defects relating to weld quality – i.e. porosity, excessive grinding marks, classified surfaces and report defects and non-conformances to Supervisor or MPE or apply non-conformance tag and move components to Quarantine for further disposition.
- Monitor and maintain calibration records for all in-house measuring devices and components. Perform spot checks of measuring equipment to ensure accuracy to a known standard, calibration records are up to date and tools are in good working condition.
- Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or designate.
About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with the following qualifications:
- Minimum College Diploma or equivalent certification
- Previous or current CWB welding certificate is an asset
- Related post-secondary training is an asset
- CWB WELDING INSPECTOR LEVEL 1 certificate. (See planned training)
- SSPC/NACE CIP Level 1 certificate (See planned training)
- 3+ years’ fabrication experience in fitting and welding and/or previous experience inspecting manufactured products.
- Computer experience (MS Office) is an asset
- Blueprint reading and understanding weld joint configuration.
- Knowledge of MEMCO/CWB Weld procedures and process specifications.
