About the Role:

Maclean are seeking an Operator Training Officer to support our growing fleet of MacLean Mining Equipment in Australasia. The position is Wangara based with travelling to customers at various mine sites. We are looking for a person with hands on mining equipment experience that has a positive can-do attitude. The role is multifaceted, and the suitable person will be responsible to liaise with customers regarding training needs and support the Sales and Engineering team to identify product improvements. The person will be a self-starter and be involved with developing training material and documentation for new machinery and equipment. The role will also oversee that the necessary training for Maclean employees is up to date and work health and safety requirements are met.           

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform commissioning and operator training on capital equipment, specifically hands-on and classroom training for mine site operators and MacLean Engineering personnel
  • Develop and implement MacLean product operational training materials and standards, including but not limited to:
    1. Operators Manuals
    2. Operational Training Aids
    3. Training practical and theory assessment
  • Develop and maintain training records for all operational and maintenance training carried out by MacLean Engineering including personnel training records
  • Provide support to the Sales and Field Service groups as necessary by building customer relationships and reporting issues and continues improvements on equipment
  • Working with Documentation, Engineering, Technical and Field Service groups, ensure training materials are current, comprehensible and relative to customer requirements to ensure above and beyond training of mine site personnel and in turn optimal performance of our equipment
  • Resolve technical equipment issues by effectively identifying the problem areas related to equipment operation and developing solutions with Technical Service, Field Service and Engineering team members as necessary
  • Act as representative for research and development projects by providing feedback to Engineering relating efficiency and effectiveness of equipment to ensure new products will be acceptable to the customers
  • Perform proto-type commissioning and testing to ensure machines meet the operational requirements of the customer
  • Participate in continues product improvement which may include functional testing of third-party design verification processes for new models
  • Develop machine operational and performance audits and refresher training programs to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness for customer requirement
  • Training and Technical Service will involve travel and will typically be carried out in underground environments in Australia. International travel is occasionally required
  • Trainer and developer with a strong focus on safety and implementing safety procedures
  • Self–motivated and able to work independently

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma related to the design or manufacture of mobile equipment or inter-provincial HDEM license preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years field experience in operation or maintenance of mobile equipment, specifically with heavy drilling and/or rock bolting equipment
  • Experience with underground mobile equipment, such as radio remote equipment will be an advantage
  • Mechanical aptitude will be an advantage
  • Common Core with Hard Rock Mining Certification
  • Computer literate with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) experience.
  • Understanding and previous experience with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems (also BEV battery systems) is preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with customers and technical groups with different levels of understanding
