MacLean Engineering is looking for skilled Maintenance Technician, to join our growing facilities team in Barrie Ontario. This is a great opportunity to be part of a small growing team, supplying aftermarket parts for heavy mobile mining equipment to various customers internationally, and to our other Ontario manufacturing plants. About the Position: This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of special project, equipment, building and ground maintenance task. The following proficiencies are required:
- Conducting inspections, adjustments, and repairs on production and facilities equipment
- Installing, dismantling, and overhauling machinery as needed
- Analyzing mechanical problems and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Performing preventative maintenance and addressing issues promptly to ensure operational efficiency
- Operating various tools, including drills, grinders, saws, and hand tools, to complete repairs and installations
- Assembling equipment such as office furniture and shelves
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Repair mechanical systems by following health and safety standards.
- Follow instructions, diagrams, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Perform maintenance of electrical systems.
- Observe mechanical devices and locate source of problem by using precision measuring and testing instrument.
- Examine form and texture of parts.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
- Determine changes in dimensional requirement of parts by inspecting used parts and measuring instruments.
- Control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Adjust functional parts of devices.
- Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies.
- Prepare mechanical maintenance report.
- Carryout routine checks and preventive maintenance on the equipment.
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Diagnose, repair and replace worn parts of machines and equipment.
- Ensure equipment area and work environment are free of hazardous objects and substances.
- Assist with supervising external technicians or subcontractors and collaborate with the external repair team.
- Keep record of work activities and submit the report.
- Submit reports on work progress of the department supervisor.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- May be required to assist in the movement of materials and labor for projects.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
- Complete all training classes as assigned.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with the Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Prepare parts for welding and/or machining and complete welding as required.
- Set up machines including selection of appropriate abrasive belt, wheel, or disk.
- Operate appropriate blending and deburring equipment including, but not limited to, die grinders, pencil grinders, belt sanders, mounted stones, etc.
- Blend, Inspect and deburr parts to verify conformance with specifications.
- Assemble and test repaired products.
- Perform activities associated with tear down, repair of hydraulic equipment, and machines and components.
- Perform assembly, disassembly, blast, braze, sizing, heat treat, and cleaning operations as specified in the travelers.
- Maintenance of machine setup information as required.
- Pick up and deliver machines/products from customers and/or suppliers.
- Work overtime as required to complete projects/assignments.
- Assist on field projects as needed occasionally requiring travel.
- Inspect fire alarm and protection alarm systems and schedule repairs when needed.
- Perform manual repairs when necessary, including but not limited to fixing locks and replacing windows etc.
- Conduct general upkeep procedures and other tasks as assigned such as landscaping, painting and carpentry etc.
About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with any one of the following qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in a related discipline is an asset.
- Five (5) + years of experience working within a facility maintenance or building management role.
- Forklift, overhead crane & slinging, scissor lift, fall arrest, working at heights, LOTO and CMMS experience is an asset.

Positions are for the following shift(s):
Afternoon Shift: Monday through Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. (4 x 10 hour shifts)
Please note that the posted wage of $24 – $29 per hour represents the expected range for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business requirements
