Position: MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING – ELECTRICAL
Shifts Available: Day Shift – 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (5 x 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday)

MacLean Engineering & Marketing Co. Limited is looking for Manufacturing Engineering – Electrical to join our team at our Owen Sound, ON manufacturing facility. About the Position: The Manufacturing Engineering – Electrical role is to be the liaison between Engineering design Team and the Manufacturing Team with a focus on reviewing electrical control system drawings and details to improve quality, productivity and reduce costs. Assisting with troubleshooting electrical control systems during assembly and testing as well as develop strategies for improving product quality and reducing non-conformances and defects. The position will require proficient, correct, timely and safe execution of the following daily work tasks:
- Self Starter capable of applying technical knowledge, leadership and mentoring to Team members as part of the design review process for the Manufacturing and Engineering Operations Team.
- Perform detailed drawing reviews of new electrical control systems, panels, operator interfaces, wire and cable assemblies prior to release for manufacturing.
- Review engineering drawings for accuracy and completeness, add specific manufacturing and assembly details to existing drawings, and to new designs, to outline the optimal manufacturing process for electrical assembly.
- Assess and implement requirements and Acceptance criteria for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies, control panels and soldered electrical & electronic components and assemblies.
- Assist and support in review of design details of PLC, VMS, Remote, robot and other systems for use on Capital vehicles.
- Liaise with various internal and external groups to handle exceptions and constructively communicate resolution of non-conformances and opportunities for improvement.
- Assess manufacturability & manufacturing structure for new products, existing products, assessing capabilities for insourcing and outsourcing of components.
- Assist in creating quality test procedures for electrical assemblies to verify continuity and safe functionality
- Estimate timelines pertaining to manufacturing, rework, design, and other related activities.
- Display strong written & verbal communication skills, particularly in the area of technical writing
- Respond to problems / exceptions and initiate NCR, interim actions, and containment with some support and guidance from peers & peer groups.
- Coordinate and implement consistent processes and quality checks by collaborating with other Team members in multiple facilities and branches as required.
- Consult with peers & peer groups to assess urgency and severity of issues and recommend corrective actions
- Identify basic Root Cause & perform basic Root Cause Analysis assisting peers & peer groups with complex analysis
- Update drawing details in AutoCAD to provide clarity or specification.
- Create SOP and detailed Work Instructions concisely and with peer consultation.
- Identify vendor issues, summarize vendor performance & make recommendations for corrective actions
- Assess manufacturability with some consultation from peer groups & apply routing structure and standard times accurately and independently within the PDM
- Assist peers & peer groups with ECN revisions & processing within PDM for approval
- Identify improvement opportunities and assess ROI & implementation of correction with some consultation from peers and peer groups
- Strictly follow safety requirements, including but not limited to wearing PPE, assessing hazards, & ensuring best practices are being followed.
- Communicate constructively, effectively and enthusiastically with all levels within the organization. Maintain a positive and professional attitude
- Any other duties as assigned by the Company
About You: The successful candidate has a positive attitude, is open minded, willing to learn and is flexible along with the following qualifications:
- College or university education in electrical, electronics or mechatronics engineering
- Trade Certification in a recognized discipline with multiple years’ experience.
- Training / certification in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project is an asset
- Training / certification in Drawing / drafting Techniques, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow definition, Project Management, Planning & Scheduling.
- Three to Five (3-5) years’ experience using SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Three to Five (3-5) years’ experience with electrical control systems, panels, operator interfaces, wiring and cable assemblies, etc.
- Three to Five (3-5) years’ experience working in a Manufacturing or Industrial setting
- Experience in Electrical Control Systems Design and Assembly, Industrial Robotics is an asset
- Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management System is an asset
