MacLean Engineering is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant, to join our Finance team within our Barrie Ontario office. If you are looking to be challenged, valued, and rewarded with a competitive compensation package in a dynamic work environment, this position is for you!
About the Position: This position will involve, and could require proficiency with any of the following competencies:
- At a high level this role will act as a link between Operations and Accounting on all issues relating to cost rates, manufacturing standards and resolution of manufacturing variances. In more granular terms this includes the following tasks:
- Updating standard costs so that they approximate actual costs.
- Assisting in the development of labour and overhead rates.
- Investigating material, labour and labour overhead variances in the GL.
- Preparation and distribution of monthly purchase price variance reports.
- Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as required.
About You: The successful candidate(s) must be willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail oriented, team oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with any one of the following qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
- A CPA designation, or in the process to obtain one.
- Preferred 3 to 5 years in a similar role.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of standard cost accounting and manufacturing processes.
- Strong ERP knowledge, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a team environment – self-motivated, assertive and organized.
- Advanced Excel knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
